When you’re having trouble with your sewage lines, the problem isn’t always obvious. The problem could be a clog that can be easily removed with a snake, or it could be a cracked pipe leaking wastewater into your home’s foundation. Instead of guessing and spending the time and effort to troubleshoot, many plumbers perform sewer camera inspections.
The video shows what’s causing the issue and where the issue is located. This helps homeowners save money because of the reduced labor hours involved in the repair.
The knowledgeable technicians here at Rudd, Plumbing, Heating and Air regularly use camera inspections to solve plumbing issues for our clients throughout Charleston, SC.
Comprehensive Camera Inspections in Charleston
During plumbing camera inspections, a small camera with a flexible cord gets inserted into a drainage system, usually at a cleanout. While the video feed is rarely super high definition, it’s more than sufficient to identify issues such as tree roots blocking drains or collapsed sewage lines.
Before sewer camera inspections, plumbers often performed unnecessary demotion to identify the cause of a drainage issue. They may have dug unsightly trenches into a landscaped yard or had to jackhammer through a tiled floor just to confirm a hunch.
Plumbing camera inspections offer several benefits, including:
Prevent unnecessary demolition and cleanup
Get documentation for insurance claims
Locate hidden leaks
Assurance before buying a home
Using camera inspections to identify drainage issues saves time and money. While sewer camera inspections aren’t free, they’re a lot more affordable than paying a plumber to troubleshoot every possible cause of a drainage issue.
Since many homeowner’s policies exclude coverage for repairs to plumbing, a camera inspection can be critical if there’s ever doubt about a covered cause of loss. If drainage pipes do get damaged by a covered cause of loss, but it happened before your policy began, insurance won’t cover it. That’s why it’s especially important for new homebuyers to perform thorough inspections of a home’s plumbing before finalizing the paperwork.
Charleston’s Trusted Camera Inspection Company
Plumbing camera inspections offer a non-invasive way to identify issues with drainage lines in your home. They prevent unnecessary mess and give peace of mind to new homebuyers. If you ever file an insurance claim for plumbing damage, sewage camera inspections provide objective proof of the cause of loss.
Plumbers who don’t use camera inspections often end up damaging lawns by digging trenches to find the underlying cause.

Matt arrived in a Sunday to fix our AC. He asked a few questions and went right to work. Identified the problem and had the system back working within a short time. What we appreciated was his showing us what the problem was and making sure it was working properly before leaving. Without hesitation, we would definitely recommend Matt and Rudd Heating and Plumbing from Moncks Corner, SC.
Our A/C/ Heating tech, Jessie Roberts, not only replaced our heat sensor, cleaned the blower wheel assembly (as recommended during his last visit), but also did the biannual maintenance (since it had originally been scheduled for the following week.) During the whole process he gave tips to my son and I which would help us keep both the main unit and mini-split working smoothly. When my son pointed out a relatively new stain on the ceiling below where the main unit sits in the attic, Jessie recommended using rubberized sealant because the drain pan had more than just surface rust.We also had some questions about the operation of our mini split, and again Jessie was able to answer them.I always appreciate someone who is knowledgeable and takes the time to share that knowledge.I hope he continues to work for Rudd because he is the best!
Just had my free 1 year check up (which I forgot about). Rudd reminded me, scheduled and inspected the unit. The entire process went well, really appreciated the excellent service!
Our blower motor went out on a Sunday and we were without a/c. Called it in on Monday morning and Marcus arrived on Tuesday. Marcus was very knowledgeable and he took his time in troubleshooting and explaining the problem to us.Morgan did an excellent job in locating the motor after 5 pm and sending a runner the next morning to pick it up.Josh arrived on Wednesday after hours at 6 pm to install and had us up and running within an hour. He stayed and monitored the system for well over another hour to ensure we would not have any issues. Josh was very pleasant, understanding, professional and knowledgeable. Can’t say enough about this company as a whole…Morgan is amazing and all of the techs that we have had for a/c and plumbing visits have been professional, extremely knowledgeable and a pure pleasure to work with. Thank you for going above and beyond to rectify all of our problems in a timely manner! We appreciate you!

Matt did a fantastic job today. He explained everything .He cleaned up after himself. He put things on his shoe so not to. mess up my floor. Right on time also.
He was great, but the person who booked the appointment totally missed the boat.I made it very clear that my issue was water under the slab of my homeI wanted it to be tested to find out if there was water and she made me think that was going to be done. The gentleman who came had no capacity to do that so I’m very disappointed I had to throw away $47 to get nothing done
Jayce was great at explaining everything and took his time finding my leak and fixing it, He also made sure everything was working great before he left.
